WOMAN PLANNED AND KIDNAPPED HUSBAND BECAUSE HE DENIED SEX TO HER

Olatoye Durosinmi, the police commissioner for the state of Akwa Ibom

Mrs. Joy Sunday, a 40-year-old lady who was detained by the police in Akwa Ibom State on suspicion of conspiring to kidnap her husband, claimed on Friday that she took part in the act since her husband had deprive her of sex and money for an excessive amount of time.

City Round learned that the kidnappers initially sought N10 million as ransom, but eventually lowered their demands to N2 million, which was paid before the police detained them while they were splitting the booty.

The suspect, who was one of 29 others paraded by the state commissioner of police, Olatoye Durosinmi, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for various offences including kidnapping, robbery, and child theft, claimed she had been forced to work menial jobs to support herself and the children ever since her husband wed another woman.

She continued by saying that after one of her kids graduated from high school, there was no money left over for him to continue his education.

She claimed, "I orchestrated my husband's abduction because for a very long period he deserted me and his kids. He abandoned me even when my in-laws' father and mother were still living. He never gave his kids any attention. To feed my children and cover their school expenses, I worked odd jobs like weeding other people's fields.

"One of the kids finished high school, and I talked to my husband about how to send him to a trade school since he wouldn't send him to college, but his husband avoided me. His refusal to have sex with me and his neglect of me and the kids are the main reasons I organised his kidnapping.

Before the police detained them, she said, she never received her half of the money.
