Austin Eguavoen has resigned as Super Eagles lead coach following the disappointment of Nigeria to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. Eguavoen has sent an authority acquiescence letter to the NFF, as indicated by a report by Brilla FM. The games radio said Eguavoen will presently go back to his role as Technical Director of all national team. The NFF had given a two-year contract to Eguavoen two days before the first leg of the World Cup set up to contend with Ghana. It is currently evident that the Super Eagles will before long have another coach.

In the interim, an authority explanation by the NFF's General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, said the football league has withdrawn the whole Super Eagles' Technical Crew. As indicated by his publication, the choice is following the disappointment of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to meet all requirements for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
