In 1932, Ikoku laid out a Co-Educational Secondary School in West Africa: the Aggrey Memorial Secondary School, situated in Arochukwu and named after his tutor James E.K. Aggrey, a famous Ghanaian educationist. In 1946, after a few sacred changes permitting more Nigerians in the authoritative chambers, he was designated toward the Eastern Nigeria House of Assembly and relegated to the service of training. In 1947 he turned out to be important for the Legislative Council in Lagos as one of three delegates of the Eastern Region.
Ikoku cultivated impressive government interest in the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), becoming instrumental in the Legislative Council's acknowledgment of 44 NUT recommendations revising different instructive statutes. He experienced obstruction through a large part of the 1950s, when the Colonial Government over and over dismissed his NUT proposals to present uniform training in Nigeria. After public freedom, Ikoku and his association were justified, when these proposals turned into the reason for schooling strategy in the new country.
In 1962, he required an 'Instruction Bill of Rights' for elementary school training to be free for quite a long time cross country in Nigeria. This was subsequently acknowledged by the Federal Military Government as from 1976. Today free training to all grade school has been conceded. Dr Ikoku actually stays an incredible symbol in Nigerian scholar and instructive turn of events and one of the most extraordinary educationists at any point had in Nigeria.
