The Onuasu Nwabekee or Onuasu River which literally mean the white mans beach was the only ancient slave trade route, where slaves are harnessed before being exported from Arochukwu to a places where the buyers will convey and buy them.

The Onuasu beach is famous following it great significant in the 18th century. It may interest you to know that the Onuasu Nwabekee is not just a river but served as a route in transporting slaves and was also used by the then Presbyterian Missionary, Mary Slessor to enter into Arochukwu which aided her in putting a stop to the killing of twins.
