Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) has given a 21-day Ultimatum to Federal Government to address her current requests which are over due. The final proposal was served to the Federal Government on the ninth May 2022, which was a result of mandate directed across all Chapters Congresses from one side of the country to the other and sanctioned by National Executive Council (NEC) of the Union at Okene, Kogi State on the sixth May 2022.
It is crippling and troubling that Federal Government seems to have created hard of hearing ears to the desires of COEASU. This is proven in her unseriousness in the goal of putrefying issues raised which influences Colleges of Education Sector to an extremely extraordinary degree. Eminent among the complaints of COEASU against the Federal Government are: Non responsibility of Federal Government to renegotiation of COEASU-FGN 2010 agreement.Poor subsidizing of Colleges of EducationNon arrival of ₦15 billion rejuvenation store swore by Federal Government Poor conditions across State-possessed Colleges of Education Forceful enrolment of COEs into IPPIS in this manner making more ruin tertiary establishments than good. This lazy mentality of Government towards tending to the complaints left COEs in both the Federal and State levels in sorry states. NEC is confident that benevolent Nigerians and applicable partners in Education will sway Government to do the needful by taking care of the waiting issues. Should government neglect to show reality in tending to the requests of COEASU at the termination of 21 days, COEASU will be left with the choice of setting out on Industrial Action. To this end, different Chapters of the Union in the South East both at Federal and State Colleges are thus educated to anticipate and enter into the following orders from NEC at the lapse of 21 days.
