It was a thing of joy and display of Arochukwu rich Cultural heritage as The burial rites of our late Eze, Mazi Vincent Ogbonna Okoro, CFR, the immediate past Eze Aro and the traditional ruler of Arochukwu kingdom was held on Monday the 5th Day of April, 2021.
Following the completion of the long started Arochukwu Civic Center, The occasion was held at the mighty Arochukwu Civic Centre, an imposing complex completed during the reign of the Late Eze Aro, Mazi Vincent Ogbonna Okoro, CFR.
One of the Aro top personalities regarded as Ugwu Aro is, Alex Otti, the former gubernatorial aspirant of Abia State under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and some other top Aro born personalities of our Kingdom and representatives of Ututu, Ihe, Isu, Abam and some other neighbouring communities that graced the event.
The Previous Eze Aro, Mazi Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro was born on March 6, 1932 into the family of late Mazi Okoro Asi Eko of Oror village in Arochukwu Kingdom regarded as the ruling family.
Following the departure of the Aro previous King, Mazi Kanu Okoro, Mazi Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro Ascended the Eze Aro throne in 1987, he was conferred to the Arochukwu Kingdom as their new Eze in the year 1988. After a period of intermission, he was enthroned as Eze Aro. It took the unabriged of seven years for him to be fully crowned the Eze Aro on March 31, 1995.
During the Event of the Fulfilment of his Burial Rites,, Prof Mazi Okoro Ijeoma was called to give an account and describe the late Eze Aro who said that the late Eze Aro was a illustrous man, highly enriched, someone who is educated, , polite, humble, simple in manner, a man of peace and a very respectful being, he channeled all his strenght, power and energy in actualizing a new Aro despite so many un - casualties and challenges “He has created a lot of expedition in Aro, in fact in the entire Igbo land”
while Speaking during the event, the professor of history disclosed that with the help of the Former Eze Aro the attention of government has been drawn to the Aro community, Mazi Vincent Ogbonnaya Okoro has influenced many mind blowing projects in the Aro Kingdom including influencing of some road projects inside the Aro Community. The professor said,
“We have had so many road projects that is under construction while some in repair which was one of those heartbreak that always worry the late Eze Aro, during the reign of our late Eze he was pointing out on the effect of the Aro roads, the positive effect to the Aro Kingdom as it will help in boosting and encouraging economically and socially activities in the Aro kingdom. Prof. Ijeoma said.
As the event was ongoing, it sighted as some other Aro indigenes who was unable to attend physically attended virtually using the zoom platform by as we sighted some Arochukwu sons and daughters in diaspora following the event. The virtually attended Aro Indigenes also made speeches regarding the ongoing occasion, they expressed their joy and their heartfelt gratitude to the organizers of the ceremony and appreciated all those that mapped out their time to attend and organize the event.
Mazi Kanu Ivi was also in attendace who was fully in support of his village (Asaga) and their omoba cultural Display.
Amasu village attended the funeral rites with their Nkwa Isi n'abu Culdural dance, while Isimkpu village came with the Abba' cultural Display.
Amangwu was also in attendance with their Ojojo dance, while obinkita displayed their usual ekpo dance. Amannagwu also did a present as they displayed their Amaraigwe cultural dance in uniform.
The Ekpe Aro who are core host of the event as they are regarded as the Government of the Aro Kingdom were also present, as they first proceeded before the event kicked off and they also regress after the occasion.
